need hlpe on right tire size
Right now I have 245-75-16 on my truck....but I want a wider tire to make it look sporty.....do I need to change the 75 to a lower number or what.....I don't really understand if I can just get the wider tire with a 285-75-16 and look sporty like I want. I just don't want the wall of the tire to look like the 20's on the new dodge....hopefully someone understands what I am asking.

The 275 is the tire height, and yes you will need to make the 75 a lower number to give the truck a wider stance. I have 50's on mine and it looks mean. PLEASE dont put a w i d e tire on a skinny rim , just as bad as a skinny tire on a fat rim.
im preeeeeetty sure the 2 hundred number is the width of the tire
the 75 that your runnin right now is aspect ratio, it tells you how much rubber you got from the rim to the edge of the tire
if im guessin the look ur goin for right, your gonna wanna do like green machine said and go to a 70 or lower, but thatll change the height of the tire (not the width)
but yea definetly check to see if your wheels can handle a wider tire, i doubt they can if theyre stock so ur gonna hafta put some new wheels on that thing too

If you are wanting your tires to look like 20's you might as well just get 20's then because if you go with low profile tires on your 16's it will most likely look kinda funny.
