Lift Kit
Hey! I'm new to the Dodge Forum, but I'm not new to Dodge. My parents have both retired from Chyrsler after a combined 58 years, so I've never driven anything not American made!
My question for you guys. My father has a Dodge Ram '01. And I'm looking to make it a little more fun...
I want to start small, so I don't give him a heart attack. So I'm interested in finding a cheap lift kit.
Obviously, more information than the year is needed to find a good lift kit and I can find out if there's any questions. I'm an 18-year-old young lady. So I don't know much, but I know a few good boys who will do my dirty work for me. I just need to find the lift kit first. If anyone knows where I can look to buy it CHEAP (have I stressed that yet?), please hit me up!

first you need to deside what kind of lift you want to do. you can do one of two things, a body lift or a suspention lift. A body lift would be mostly the cheapest. If your looking to go offroading or something, you sould get a suspention lift. You also need to deside how high you want to lift it. between 2-3 inches is a good choice if your not a hard core off roader and you still want to keep it handling as close to stock as possible. I would recommend skyjacker. There alot easyer to enstall and there the best in my opion. you can get a 3in kit from Jegs.com for around $399.00. Hope that helps and good luck.

PS: I would call jegs or skyjacker and ask them to tell you want is the best setup that suits your needs.

Thank you Tani! I'm always amazed when I receive answers... So I looked at the page and I have more questions. I probably could just ask my father, or my boyfriend, but I would prefer to ask someone who knows Dodges and about trucks. Do I have to purchase TWO of the kits they sell on that site? Because if it only comes with two... of the coil things? I would need those for each tire right? or no? SIGH! lol....
the kit will come with 2 springs and if shocks are included, 4 of them. if your on a budget, you can get some 3/4 ton springs for the front and blocks for the back. You will still need 4 shocks for the lift though. 3/4 ton springs will make the ride a tad bit harsher but nothing too bad. the 3/4 ton springs can be found in the wrecking yards for most likely around $50 bux. I found mine used for $25 and if gave me 2 1/2" of lift. pretty cheep for a front lift.
Skyjacker 3" lift kit if you want small nuff said. If you want bigger there 5" or 6" kit. A kit should have everything you need these trucks only use coils in the front not the rear they use leaf springs in the rear.
I would only do a body lift if the truck is very old and you dont care anymore. I did a bodylift on a old ranger and it was ok but after seeing all the little things that are never the same I cant not recommend a body lift for a 01 model
I have a lift kit for an 01 Ram 1500. It is a skyjacker 3 inch with ad-a-leafs in the rear and front coils, it has the longer controll arms. I am going to 7 inch so i dont need this any more. you can get the leveling kit pretty cheap and add to the 3 incher to make it a 5 inch lift. That will fit 35 inch tires. I paid 700 with shipping and i only used it for 100 miles. I want 500 for it. If yorue interested email me at dmons_soul@yahoo.com
