Default axle problem

I can't seem to get my left front axle to stop leaking. Where the seal rides on the axle there is a light groove wore into the axle, i tried moving the seal but it still leaks. Is there another type of seal or something designed to fix this problem, or is this not a normal problem. Its on a dana 44 on a 2000 dodge. The other side looked the same and it sealed just fine.

If you had a dirt bike and posted at www.thumpertalk.com with a problem you would have about 20 answers within 15 minutes, but on this site it takes a couple days sometimes, so you just have to be patient.

Dodge axles are know to eat themselves up (at least the rear) where the bearing sits. Sorry reread your first post -seal not bearing. but anyway, have you mic'd it. You could put rtv on the lip first.

Not too bad, its a pain but if you take you time and pay attention its not too bad. The other day someone on here had a link on a step by step walk through.
