i think you circled your problem. the procedure is in the fsm under adjustments in the 9 1/4 rear axle index. you said you didn't have the tool to tighten the adjusters, so unless you made one i don't see how you could properly torque the adjusters prior to torqueing the bearing caps.

I went and got something to make it work... Had the exhaust place near me weld two nuts to a rod, one the size of the adjuster hole and the other 3/4"...

And still had my problem. After freaking out, I decided to take the diff off. I know I had a 3.55 rear ring gear and a 3.55 pinion.
But when I decided to take both ring gears off, I noticed that one was slightly different than the other. I thought I had put the original one back on. I put the old damaged diff in and set the adjusters and torqued it and it moved fine.

Someone had told me regardless of the adjusters the bearing caps shouldn't cause the rear not to turn, unless the gears were mis-matched.

Even though the gears are both 3.55. Obviously they were made by two seperate companies, they just look different.
So now I just stopped to set a new play list on the garage computer, and sorry for coming here whining. Its just frustrating to get so much done and get caught up on a little problem like this. Also the reason I said "I'm not worried about it being right" is because the next thing I'm doing is getting a LSD with a higher ratio put in, but I'm gonna get a shop to install it. Too many fine-tune adjustments need to be made.
