I have the torque converter seated, other wise the bell housing wouldn't bolt to the motor, I got a new bolt for the center of the damper, the old one was a bit chewed up. Im working on my Camaro with a 383.

well i was told it may appear to be seated all the way when it is not. the shop teacher i had told of his buddy that rebuilt his tranny and reinstalled it only to not be able to turn the motor over, so he replaced the starter which did not help, since he did not fully seat the torque converter, even though he was certain he had.
what were you working on, the engine or the transmission?

WTF.... that center bolt is supposed to be torqued to 135lbs (not sure about a 383's tq specs, but I imagine it would be an equally substantial number) Torque it to spec, then try turning it the other way (counter-clockwise), after completion, be sure to re-torque. Last time I stabbed a tranny, I was able to turn the engine by hand (with considerable force and a little anger).

I daresay it may be frozen/rusted out.

I would say its the torque converter. I did that with my old 94 chevy diesel it lookd like the TC was seated so threw it up n bolted it up and couldn't turn motor over. Pull tranny out set it up on end and pull TC up a little and spin it and it should slide in all the way.

Yeah, usually two distinct clicks when seating a converter...But we don't know how long the car sat either.

The torque converter is in all the way, I spinned it back and forth and all the way around, I got the two clicks as ya say. I wouldnt have been able to bolt the trans to the motor if it wasnt seated properly. I got a new bolt for the center damper and ill torque to spec. It hasn't sat very long, the motor was never apart when it sat. I had to replace the flywheel which I pulled the trans and such.

Default Same problem

Yeah so I'm having the same problem as this guy except I'm working on a 2001 Dodge Neon pulled the transmission put a new one in it new torque converter made sure it went into place everything lined up at bolted right up to the motor but now the torque converter won't turn neither will the flywheel need to turn the flywheel to line the bolts up do I absolutely have to repull the transmission because like I said I'm pretty sure the torque converter lined up spun it got the two clicks it bolted ride up to the motor now the flywheels froze up.. Also both of my motor mounts are busted, im wondering if that could cauae it to bind.

You posted in the 2nd gen truck forum, I'm not familiar with the Neon. I would loosen the bell housing bolts and pry it apart 1/2 inch and see if they turn. Busted mounts shouldn't matter. I'd guess the torque converter isn't in all the way.
