Actually, stock wheels have closer to 5.5" of backspacing. My OEM Offroad edition rims have 5.25" of backspacing, and I can tell it was less the the stock rims I got rid of. A wheel that has around 4.5" of backspacing or so will stick out the way you want. This puts nearly the same stress on the hubs that a wheel spacer does, but it is a far better way to do it then a spacer.

Tell you the truth buying the new rims and new tires are worth it. I run 35x12.50r17 on mine and they look so much better. And plus you dont have to buy spacers then.

I have the OEM 3 spoke Ram Alloys and hate them.

I love the fact people coo about they are the more rare of Ram alloys (I don't believe they are unless that many people also hated and scrapped them).
I can't lie they look like a lot like a revision to the original 93 Viper rim design,

I just hate that they are nearly flush to the lip. I grew up deep dish, as in 8 inch or wider Cragar or American Racing rims with the rim offset at 0/0 or deeper......
So yeah rims with no dish annoy me to a volatile degree.

As far as spacers are concerned; I personally would never go past 1/2", or ever recommend to anyone or imply that they would be safe exceeding 1/2"
