Default altenator?

my voltage is jumping alot, just wondering if the voltage is regulated by the altenator itself or if there is some other part i have to mess with, sometimes it runs a bit high sometimes its a bit low the GEN light has come on once but if i turn the truck on and off it usually stops and works normaly for a few days now when the voltage is moving around i also noticed that my interior lights (when on) will be dimming here and there headlights do it to and the dashlights i just assume i need a new altenator, but i wanted to make sure there isnt some other underlying dodge problem i should be aware of

The voltage is regulated by the PCM. If your GEN light is coming on, then I thinks it's your alternator. take it out and have it checked at an auto parts store.

I'd check for crappy connections (including the many grounds) first, then test the alternator and the battery if none are found.

If you end up proving that it's the regulator in the PCM, the cheapest fix is to hack in an external solid-state regulator from an older Chrysler model.
