My son has a 95 Ram with the 6 banger engine. it has 200,000 plus miles on it. After it runs for a while, sometime 10 miles or more sometimes less the oil light will come on. after a few minute the gauge will drop to zero. He will pull over and turn it off then restart it and it is good to go for a while, then repeats the sequence. I replaced the sending unit and changed the oil and filter. Anyone experience this. If it was the pump it looks like it would start clattering. I won't to try other things before I pull the pan.

main bearings are worn out! engine rebulid time. i had a 5.2 that would hold oil pressure until it got warm then nothing. drsin the oil and look for small brass colored or silver colored pieces of metal. that will tell all.
