98 Ram 1500...squeak with 4x4 engaged?
Went out to the gun range today...had to use the 4x4. Rolled down the window cause it was so nice out and started to hear a squeak from the hub? At first i thought wheel bearing but then it only did it in 4x4. Im thinking differential or cv joint? Also recently noticed when in reversed and had wheels cranked it made a clicking type sound. I really thought it was just my tires rubbing but then thats also indication of a bad cv joint right? Is they any way to further identify the problem? Or any opinions? Thanks.

Squeaking with 4x4 engaged
If there is any kind of clicking noise or squeaking when the wheels are turned and 4x4 engaged then the u-joint at that side are pooched.
You can check the u-joint by grabbing the yoke at the shaft end by the wheel and try to move the yoke, if it moves with play between the u-joint cross then its shot. Saw you are up North, the seals on the cross may have split and let in water and salt crap killing the joint too. May have rust trails around the cross as well.
In the last couple of years I have changed at least 4 sets of u-joints on 1500's and 3500's. Have changed the front joint on the transfer case to diff driveshaft as well. The first set were no-greaseable, the next sets I just plain wore out.
They got to be greased regularly otherwise you make Spicer very happy.

if it squeaks only when in 4wd, then its the u-joints in the front drive shaft. its got the double-carden thingy.
you can pull the driveshaft and rebuild it yourself.

or take the removed driveshaft to a shop and have them do it.
