Thumbs down Strange starting problem

hope you guys can help me out!

01 ram 5.9 4wd

When i try to start my truck sometimes, I get only a click like starter is going out. Battery works fine radio lights etc. So I disconnect the negative cable from battery, and it starts right up every time. But it idles really rough after this sequence for about 5 minutes or so.

Battery has been load tested good, both top clamps cleaned and replaced, and brand new starter.

Ideas

Maybe the starter is going bad. But check the opposite end of the cables too. And the rough idle is normal. When the battery is disconnected, the PCM is reset and needs to relearn settings.
