Default Brake lights stay on

Al right, I am stuck and looking for a little direction here. I have a 2001 2500 extended cab long bed.

All three of the brake lights are staying on. I unhooked the battery until I had time to work on it (3 days) and when I hooked the battery back up, they were off. Drove for a couple of days and then they came back on. This happened twice.

I have pulled the fuse in the box under the hood and they stayed on. The right blinker flashes, but the left blinker and emergency flashers do not work.

Any help or direction would be appreciated

Pull the covers off the steering column and see if any wires are shorting. Check the plug going to the multi switch too.

Also check/trace the wires at the rear of the bed.

Go to the FAQ section and download the 2001 service manual. It has wiring diagrams in it.

Default found out where the problem is

I was checking wires to see if I could find the short. I pulled the trailer fuse under the hood and the brake lights went off. Everything seems to be working normal now.

I guess that I need to start checking the factory installed trailer wiring. Anyone else have any idea where to start or should I just check the conductivity of all the wires.
