gotcha.. there is a balance between gears and power it is my opinion.. one can compensate for the other.. in your friends case, I bet he is just fine.. but a 5.9L MAGNUM w/ a 46RF/E??? no way man.. not on a 3/4 would I consider it.. that's just me though.. it doesn't mean it's wrong..

I messed up and didn't know they made a light duty 2500 (stupid) mine is a 96 and has a gvw 6400lb and it sucks for towing i had 1 cord of wood in a trailer it was really green still but i couldn't go over like 30mph in 3 gear i had to keep dumping 2 second. i was cussing the whole way up the hill and i have stock tires im thinking of switching out the rear end with a 4:10.

My 95 has d60's with 3.55's, they suck. The only saving grace is that i have a low 1st if i want it to haul. Manual transmissions are the only way to go.
