The lone wolf fuel pump thread.
Well, after taking a nice little spur of the moment road trip last week in the '01, I get back towards home and the truck starts cutting out on me just a bit. Pull over and hop out, and there's a nice loud whine coming from the tank. Went ahead and ordered the new pump and changed it out yesterday. I've dropped a tank before on the 95, and also considered the option of pulling the bed. Well, with close to 3/4 of a tank and no real desire to siphon that much fuel and no one but myself to carry the bed I decided to go a different route..
Unbolt the bed, lift 'er straight up, and wiggle under there to get the old pump out. Easier said than done, but doable. Didn't have to even mess with the wiring in the back, just fuel filler, ground (which could have actually stayed on because of it's length) and the 6 bolts. All in all took about 2 hours taking my sweet time. Best part about this way is being able to SEE the connections to the pump and being able to get right in there to take them off. Just an idea for any of you needing to change out pumps by yourself.
She's nice and dirty, so forgive me..
