Default Whats the best way to get a lot of HP!?

Hello, I'm new to the forum. I have a 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 with the 5.2 liter in it. I want to get a lot of horsepower. I've been debating what would be the best and most cost effective way to get close to 400 to 500 h.p. I've considered buying a super charged or turbo charged crate motor and a new or used transmission along with various other upgrades. I've also considered by a crate motor with out the charger and either putting one on afterward or getting a motor that already has that much power. I noticed very quickly that those two ways are extremely costly. The third option i thought of was just rebuilding my current 5.2 and transmission and putting a charger on that. I'm just not sure which way would be the best and was hoping that someone hear could provide some insight. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

Stroke it out (i think the 5.2 can go to a 396 safely), build it for boost and throw a super charger on it.

400hp is easily and RELIABLY attainable with a N/A 408 (360 w/ 4" crank, bored .030)

heads and compression are KEY

get an sct and these motors are bolted up to bad axles with 3.55 . so going to gears would would be smart . other than that lil thing here and there will open it up with sct being the best bang, and then open up the exhaust with a highflow cat and do 14x3 and fastman to breathe and do the airgap i love mine

ur gonna need more then a 318 to make 500 hp. And you gotta have a big bank account, if you want that much power i would get a cummins and tweek that out it will run 600hp all day

a 318 with a longer arm, increasing cubes to 390, would certainly pump 400hp with 10:1 CR, ported heads that flow in the high 200's, and a mean cam.

add a vortech, and theres your 500hp on a pretty modest boost setting.

you might as well pick up a 360 block and just go 408 though.

buy something that already has a lot of HP. otherwise you're going to waste $10,000
