Default I need help with the removal of the belt tensioner

I can wobble mine back and forth like this

So I need some help on trying to get this thing off and put a new one on.

I am planning on going to a junk yard today and getting a used one because I don't have $70 to buy a new one.

Help is appreciated, thanks!

Dont waste your time buying a used one. Save your money, do it right, and get a Dayco.

Anyways, take the ignition coil off, take the belt off, and take the bolt off that holds the tensioner. Use some PB Blaster as the screws to the ignition coil are a PITA. Make sure when you install the tensioner you get the little alignment dowel in the little hole.

Oh ok, didn't know if this was a part that I could "sneak" my way around just because I don't have a lot of money.

looks like all you need is the pulley not the whole assembly...

you can throw a new idler pulley on to get you by until you can get the right part... the bolt holding the pulley on is reverse threaded pretty simple....

is that what your tick was??

Replace the whole thing. Even though the bearing on yours is one of the problems, the spring that puts tension on the belt wears out over time due to corrosion (not a sealed design) and the fact that springs loose their tension over time.

Alright, well that will be my next project, sounds pretty simple so I shouldn't have too many problems, thanks!
