Default TCC Lockup issue.

i did a highway trip today....(by the way i got 93 miles on less then a 1/4 tank ) but as i was driving, i had Cruise Control set to 70, it was going fine, then the CC let go, and it was deaccelerating....didnt think much of it, went to get back to speed, and i noticed that my Tach was about 400 rpms to high (was runnning at 2100 rpms at 70, when its usually about 1800 rpms).....then i noticed the Torque converter kept locking, unlocking, locking, unlocking at a steady throttle on flat ground. Now with this happening i dont have CC.....

What wuld cause it to keep locking and unlocking? it got to the point where it wouldnt unlock, and the RPMS were high....but after about 1/2 hour it released and was normal the rest of the trip, and CC was working again

Fluid is perfect level, and looks/smells perfect....(just did a fluid/filter change about 5K ago.)

went to my buddy who owns his own shop, and he said, it could be either the Computer, or a sensor, but he would need to take it for a ride (didnt have time today)......truck shifts perfect, and still goes into O/D, just the lockup is the problem....

any help is appriciated.

I just went through tcc problems. Mine wouldn't lock at all. I had to end up rebuilding the transmission since the torture converter was bad.

Is out throwing any codes?

No CEL.....just have code 12 (battery disconnected within 50 key cycles) and Code 32 (EGR gasses not functioning properly....i blocked my egr pipe, and have a hollow cat, which explains that.)

I will check out the TPS....i did notice though that my gas pedal is real loose...is that normal? Like my cable is stretched..........basically it goes like this.....Tip/end of cable, then theres about an inch and a half of cable, then its at the gas pedal.....so the tip doesnt seem like its in place, and i cant push it to place, it comes back out.........hard to understand but i hope you get the idea

If you do replace it, and it isnt the problem, you could just return it...

You could use a (preferably analog) multimeter to test the thing. If you see noise on the signal pin while moving the throttle from fully closed to wide open slowly, the TPS is a goner. The signal output should change smoothly across the full range of motion of the potentiometer.
