440 swap vs 360 rebuild
So i havent been on here in awhile , kinda hard with my new job and whatnot. Anyway back in september i blew out the auto tranny in my truck for the first time. I found it hard to believe that it lasted 90000+ miles with the way i beat on it. After that happen i decided i wanted a 5spd so i did some shopping around and found a NV3500 for free, i did the conversion and painted the old girl in the mean time (massy fergusion grey if anyones curious) ands its been all down hill from there... It started off with my truck lossing oil pressure when i came to a complete stop with the tranny still in gear ( main bearings i believe) then i broke my front driveshaft in a little creek which caused my tcas to crack.. I diddnt relaize that the tcase was cracked and had no oil until i pulled on to the highway coming home from work one day and it blew into 3 pieces. Well i got another tcase and put it in and the truck started to make a crazy squealing noise from the clutch arear and the clutch pedal felt sponagey. Tranny guy said cracked throw out bearing. So i decided to pull the engine and tranny so i could replace my mainbearing and realized the entire bellhouuseing of the 3500 was in 4 pieces. So now the thought wheels have started turning and just wondering what you guys think. If its going to be crazy expenxive to rebuild my 360 i was kinda wondering about just finding a 383 or a 440. I know its gonna be a pain in the rear but im looking for an engine no one else has in their dodge around here and i havent seen any 2nd gen 440's in the area yet. the biggest thing im haven trouble getting over is what tranny to use. i would like to find a way to fit a 5spd behind it but i did find some adaptor kits on the internet that will allow you to fit a 700R4 behind it. I just want to hear some opionions and i have a feeling i will more then likely just put a refreshed 360 and a nv4500 but in her but i like to imagine........
Is the truck a DD or just a toy?
Don't use the 700R4. They are about as good as our A518. If you are going to swap a different brand tranny behind it use a 4L80E or an Allison with a stand alone controller.

more then likly i will go with the rebuild i just want to see what others think and the nv3500 diddnt stand up to the 360 to well. Bellhousing all cracked to heck so i have to find a 4500 and the cheapest one of those i have found so far is 800 and the majority are going for 1000+
