What would a guy need?
After seeing the talk about 1ton drum and 3/4 disc on a half ton I'm thinking maybe a good idea. So my question is how hard is to upgrade to these? Assuming it takes new 3/4 ton calipers and 1ton drums but what else would a guy need and how hard is it?
From what i have read previously...this is the "gist":
1. Need to use the brackets from the 3/4 for mounting to a 1/2 ton.
2. Need to do something to the master cylinder so your rear discs can work properly.
3. I am pretty sure that you need to swap leaf springs as well, but I could be wrong.

there was a guy that did it on this forum and he made a thread. Also, I know for the drum to disc conversions for our trucks (cost 900 dollars) the instructions say you need to modify the master cylinder because of the brake fluid pressure change needed to run the rear brakes properly as disc brakes.
Bracket changes are a given since the leaf springs of a 3/4 and 1 ton are about .5 inch larger. So you would need to replace the shackles. I would assume you need to change the leaf springs as well....because changing the bracketing for leaf springs ON THE AXLE would probably be harder than swapping the springs and just using different mounts for them.

some people swap BOTH axles so they have a better drivetrain for rock crawling.
It would be better to just get a rear disc from a 2001 that has rear discs. I would also get the brake booster and master cylinder.
Hard thing is finding one that matches your front differential gearing. Easy if you have a 2wd (obviously) since you do not have a front diff.
