Question need info please

i just purchased a 2001 dodge ram 1500 6 cylinder pick up truck, the previous owner of the truck did not have a manual,so i have a couple of questions, first is there a place on the internet that i can download one for free, or maybe someone here can give me the info that i need....i want to tune up this truck so i'll need all tune up info like, spark plugs used and number and setting ,type air cleaner, type of oil recommended, and whatever else is necessary....one more question ,is it possible to tow a camper with this truck or am i better off with a cabover camper ,and if so what other info would i have to ad to this truck to get it ready to haul either one of these items.....thanks

Welcome to DF. I will move this to the 2nd generation Ram section for you (1994-2001 Dodge Rams).

First, I'll warn you, that 3.9L V6 is not really designed for much towing at all. How big of a camper are we talking about?

For spark plugs and air filter, go into your favorite auto parts store (NAPA, O'Reillys, Advance Auto, etc.) and tell them about your truck (2001, 1500, v6, anything else they ask). They will tell you what spark plugs they have on hand for you. The best ones are usually the regular cheap copper Champion or NGK V-power plugs. Do not buy Platinums. You can also do the same thing online and order them that way instead. For the air filter, any regular air filter will do, but I recommend Wix (O'Reilly usually has them).

For oil, I can't remember if the V6 takes 5w-30 or 10w-30. Someone else will chime in with that answer.

For spark plug wires, I recommend BWD wires from O'Reillys or a 8mm set from an online retailer (like Summit Racing or Rock Auto).

For cap and rotor (distributor), any brass unit will work well. Try to avoid the aluminum ones.

For a user manual, eBay usually has them for really decent prices.

From the manufacturer they come with 5w-30. But most people upon doing oil changes, switch to 10w-30.

So if your not sure just do an oil change and use 10w-30.

In your OP, you asked about the manual:

As for the camper, I think the tow behind would better. Cruise around the forum here for the Timbren spring helpers.
