The front end on my 99 Dodge 1500 4 X 4 seemed a bit shaky. So, I didn't have the time to undertake the project so I took it to my mechanic. He rebuilt the front end, tie rods, steering damper, etc,. The front end seems much better, although, the steering is still loose and I feel some shaking in the steering column when going over bumps. Would I benefit from changing the steering gear box? What else could be causing this? Any help would be appreciated!
the bushing at the end of the column at the firewall is probally worn out. My steering is the same way and I got the ram steering fix bushing for it but haven't put it on yet.
I got a brand new gear box, steering was great and tight... for about a week. The week later is now so I guess ill check that out.. first bushing by firewall? or is there only one?
Thanks. I bought the Ram Steering fix and it came today. I will put it in this weekend and see how it works. I am excited to give it a try and will let you know how it worked.
