Ok, if you dont mind... Why was I thinking 98 and newer could only run the obd2 port style tuners? I swear I thought you couldent use them until after they changed the dash design

What would the design of the dash have to do with a tuner taking to the computer?

It really does not, but I seem to remember they changed eveything over when they changed the dash and went to the digital odometer, now I could be and very likely am wrong and my 97 is full obd2 which means I can run a programmer on it but I wanted to be sure before I spent the money on a superchips progamer that won't tune through the obd2 port because according to superchips some 97s won't work with one

its not the dash, its the computer.
superchips will only work in 98 and up.
hypertech has a '97 version, but its hard to find.
i'm not sure about SCT, you can search their website or contact hemifever.
B&G has flashes for old models.
mopar performance pcm works on old models, also hard to find.
