Question quick exhaust question

hey guys i just took my old thrush off my truck to replace with a new one, easy right? wrong... :/ well the pipes i was gonna use again got a little messed up so now i cant use them but this isnt bad because im gonna get some new pipe and run a new setup

the question i have tho is

where is the best location of the muffler to reduce drone in the cab? cuz i have no cat (3" reducer to 2.5") and the muffler was placed around 1-2 ft away from the cat location... essentially right under the passenger seat-ish area and the drone just gets on my nerves so im putting on a new muffler in hopes of fixing the problem somewhat (previous owner kinda rigged the exhaust a bit)

but idk where to put the muffler? my autos teacher said to get like an 6-8ft section of pipe and straight piping all the way under the cab to the muffler and the muffler will hang its outlet on the third exhaust hanger

that makes sense to me to cut down the drone because the exhaust is just going straight through the pipe and not bouncing around in the muffler under the cab...

so... any ideas?
THANKS IN ADVANCE!

Put the muffler under the bed where it was stock, and take the pipe all the way out the back.
That should, in theory, reduce the amount of exhaust drone.

Thanks I appreciate the help, i got my exhaust done (aside from the part that goes over the axle) and it turned out amazing, my truck has a whole new exhaust tone and it is wayyyyy quieter in the cab so myself and my passengers dont mind long rides
