Default Whoa, starter I think?

Just started the truck leaving pizza hut, and it sounded like a turbine wound up and then power got cut, and it clicked off. Never heard that sound from anything before, and the "check gages" light stayed on much longer than usual, through there was nothing on the gauges that appeared abnormal.

only thing I could think off was perhaps the starter, but I've only had one that was fine one minute and dead the next. Got home and turned it back over and she started up just fine.

Weird.

Sounds like the bendix didn't kick in.
May be time to pull it and check it.

Replaced the starter today, don't feel the need to end up stranded.

They really need to find a better way to mount it than to use a bolt that requires 16" of extensions fed through a motor mount to get at it.

I was able to get at mine easily with a 6" extension and a wobble head adapter on the end of it. The ratchet was right behind the starter while I did it.
Unless part of the frame was blocking you since it's 2wd.

I don't have a wobble head in the 1/2" variety, and that bolt wasn't coming loose with the 3/8". Too much flexing on the extensions. That bolt is only supposed to be 50ft/lbs, but the crud on it said otherwise.

Should have rebuilt your starter. I did with mine. Piece of cake, upgraded parts, and less than $20 in parts and an afternoon of fun. She's good for another 10+ years of service.

Gotcha. I've snapped a 3/8" ratchet or two while using my 18" extension.

I'm gonna have to remember the rebuild deal if mine ever takes a dump on me.

but, but, awe hell, I'm lazy.

I did notice that the new starter was about 5 lbs lighter, I just cut .01 second off my ET's.
