Default MPG CAI v/s STOCK system

Well folks this is what I have a 99 ram 1500 8'bed 4 door(extended cab) 5.9 I am running the "cooler" autolite sparkplug and a 180* t-stat. I should note I was running a CAI that was a generic bought off of ebay. It consists of a 4? inch aluminum pipe a plactic "hat" and a stamp metal air box with a generic "k&n" like cone shaped air filter. The air box hooks up to the area that the stock system fitted into and I sealed the box with can foam and the water pipe adhesive foam.

I should also note I replaced the fan shroud and pully driven fan with electric fans.

before the fan replacement but with the CAI I was getting 15.5mpg mostly interstate consistantly.

After the fan replacement with the CAI I was getting after 3 tanks of gas 17.2 mpg I will note the weather averaged 62* during driving times(mostly mornings and late afternoon)

I then changed out to the stock system and a new filter for 3 tanks of gas. I got 16.8 mpg again I will note the weather averaged 66* during driving times(mostly mornings and late afternoon)

Of this I will say the results are roughly the same .4 mpg means little over 3 tanks of gas. Up next going back to the 195* t-stat.

I have tried to be as accurate as possible but I may have missed a detail or two. Conversation will correct any missed details.

Must be driving like a grandma. Nothing wrong with that, just saying, to get that good of mileage out of a 5.9L V8.

I don't think I saw any change in mileage between the stock box with a drop in K&N and a K&N CAI. It's been a long time since I had those two on my truck though.

I drive mostly interstate 60 mph on the cruise control its all flat around here I work a 24 hr shift 45 miles each way. I do some intown driving but not much.

I figure mpg like this fill tank reset the odometer then when I fill again divide miles by gallons. I fill it to the first click then wait a second then top it to the second click.
