If It's just mud, start the truck and leave it run then spray down the engine with a Pressure washer just don't intentionally spray water at the intake or the such for a extended amount of time, let run for at least 10 min after your done. If its greasy or oily spray degreaser first and let it soak for a bit then spray her down while it's running.

nooooooooooooooo, not a pressure washer, unless you have the discipline to keep your distance from the engine.

pressure washers generate WAY WAY WAY too high - damaging, scouring, eroding pressures....

just use a water hose with a nozzle.
have a beer and tomato juice while you're at it. it'll brighten up the day.

Don't spray the computer or distributor either.

We use a Pressure washer at work all the time, never hurt a engine yet. Unless the engine has been messed around with it should be fine, but like I said, make sure it's running when you start and leave it run 10 min afterwards.

I should mention I was not talking about a gas pressure washer, just a electric one.

if someone has to ask how to clean a motor then they dont need to use a pressure washer. just a water hose with a spray nozzle works very well. i get off the biggest part of the mud then i use a soapy water mixture then wash all that off. she sparkles!!

I've used the coin operated car washes ever since we had had them here. Goin' on 50 years or so.

I've used pressure washers many times, even used hot water/steam ones without a problem BUT it is generally not recommended.

The recommended method is steady, low pressure such as a regular garden hose. The idea is not to "blow" the mud off but to soak it and let it just slide off.

Also, and I know you rednecks know this one: The best way to get the underside clean is to take you a standard yard sprinkler, you know the long skinny one with all the holes that goes back and forth, and set it under the vehicle for about a half hour.
Soaks all the mud heavy and it just drops right off leaving a perfectly clean underside...
