Default shifting to 4 hi
This is my first 4wd that doesn't have manual locking hubs, so I want to be sure I have this right:
I can shift from 2hi to 4hi while in drive up to 50mph
I can shift from 2hi to 4low while in drive up to 5mph
I can shift from 4hi to 4low while in drive up to 5mph

Am I correct?

This is in a 99 ram with an automaic trans.

Pretty much. You've got to shift the transmission into neutral before changing ranges (H->L or L->H).
