clearing codes...
ok i have the ABS light/ brake light thing going on...... i replaced the rear speed sensor but the lights are still on..... i read somewhere that you cannot clear the codes by disconnecting the battery..... anyone know for sure??? Thanks....
yes you can clear the codes by disconnecting the battery... 3~4 minutes should do it. as far as the abs & brake lights... not sure if they will be cleared by disconnecting the battery or not, I think they should clear when the failure is gone.
check your abs sensors the hall effect might have dirt or grease covering it, did you go 4xing lately, when your abs light come on the brake light comes on to let you know that you have normal braking and if you hit the brakes hard enough they will lock up and not do the ABS thing.
makes unnoing people bring there vehicles in for a brake abs inspection.
Have you tried retreiving any codes yet? do you have and engine service soon light on? If not then there are no codes or you could look at past stored codes, ABS and brake light are seperate warning lights, Has nothing to do with PCM, or ECM those are all fuel and emissionsand other stuff. Hope that helps

Just kind of anecdotal- A while back, I had an error code come up on my truck. After fixing the problem, I called the Dodge dealership and asked them how to clear the code so the MIL would turn off. They informed me that the ONLY way to clear the code was to place $85 in thier pockets and that there was NO way for me to clear it by myself. I then asked an auto mechanic who let me in on the disconnecting the battery trick. Those service reps are a sleazy bunch.
