Default Front dana 44 lockers options/question

first off i have a 2001 dodge ram 1500 5.9L with a dana 44 in the front CAD system with an open differential my question is could i get away with running a simple aussie locker or similar product to help with traction. I understand that when you deal with lockers in the front it makes it extremely hard to turn but with the CAD system the passenger side axle isnt even engaged anyway unless in 4x4..... so there wont really be much of a problem turning when in 2x4? does the locker still cause some binding? does a locker in the dana 44 with the 4x4 system off cause torque to always be applied to the driver side axle. so in so called 2x4 its really a 3x4... that would hurt gas mileage.. If this setup would work and not cause much problems what if I try running a mini spool and get the 4x4 posi lok system to have better control on the CAD system?? has anyone tried any of these systems? in all reality i would go for a selectable locker like air or ox but man do they cost a lot also if any of these are done i would without a doubt upgrade axles and lower gears.

When power is not being applied, the locker will not lock, so even with the CAD engaged it will not cause steering problems. If it was my truck and I was putting an auto locker in it, I would leave the CAD locked full time, it would be bad if the side without the CAD started slipping, instead of turning the carrier, it would cause a lot of wear on the locker, with both sides being driven, that can't happen. And even in 4wd, when you're off-road, a front locker doesn't make it "extremely hard" to turn. And FWIW I have nothing but great things to say about Aussie Lockers
