Need help, 96 Dodge ram 1500 stalls when I stop...
My 1996 Dodge Ram 1500 V8 5.2L just started stalling out 2 days ago. It stalls sometimes when I stop. It does not sputter or idle funny, it just goes dead, and always fires right back up. Anyone have experience with this issue? Maybe a sensor? Fuel pump?

Welcome to DF. Before doing anything else, please read this.
I am thinking the IAC or TPS would be the first things I'd check. I will move this to the 2nd Generation Ram section for you, get you some help. (1994-2001 Ram trucks) |
So either the Idle Air Control Valve or the Throttle Position Sensor? Those will cause it to stall upon stopping? Are they both easy to access and change?

I just picked up a new IAC, gonna replace it in a few hours. Will uodate on if it solves the issue.

Make sure you clean everything before installing and it should fix you right up.

Philips head screwdriver?

If remember right it is a torx bit. I will go check in a min. A mirror and light are your best friends on this one.
EDIT: A little too dark out for me to see well. I believe it is a T-25 torx bit. |
