Default Trailer hitch wiring??

Installed a new (used) hitch that I picked up at a garage sale...

Got it for $25 and cleaned it up and painted it and installed it...Then I realize that there appears to be no wiring for a trailer.

Did these trucks come with any wiring for a trailer that I maybe overlooked? Is there a good installation procedure?

Thanks everyone! I have learned a lot here!

If im not mistaken you can buy a simple connector from the parts store that just plugs in for a flat connector. I dont know about the round RV blade connector or a round pin connector. They have so many trailer wiring plugs its hard to keep up with.

I am not talking about a connector. There doesn't seem to be any wiring at all for trailer lights. I imagine that maybe it didn't come with it from the factory unless the tow package was included?? The only wiring I see by the rear end is for the rear brake lights and the license plate lights.

you need a trailer wiring connector. something like this, available at your local walmart or auto parts store.

this photo is misleading. there might be 2 T's for the brake lights, but only 1 4 pin blade connector.

Yes I know what you are talking about. The connector that im talking about is a simple plug and go setup that splices into your brake, parking, and turn signal lights via a simple plug. You disconnect the plug under the rear of the truck where the break lights plug on each side and plug this connector in and plug it back up so you dont have to cut and splice your wires. It is just like the one in the link above provided by dhvaughn.

I think one of the 4 pin blade connectors in the pic is an extender to get it further out from under you truck because the main connector may not come out far enough on a RAM to hook up to a trailer with enough slack to turn.

Thanks for this link! Found it at my local AutoZone. Plug-n-play sure beats the butcher job the previous owner did on it. Thanks again!
