Default High Lift jack mounting points

When I bought my truck about 1.5yrs ago, it didn't have the factory jack or the arm that lowers the spare tire. I couldn't find one locally in nearby wrecking yards, so I just bought and installed a High Lift jack in the bed. Now I have a canopy on the truck, so accessing the High Lift is going to be a problem (I hate crawling inside with the canopy!). Anyone have a factory setup that they want to trade me for? Or know where I can find one?

The only time I tried using the High Lift was under the draw bar off the tow hitch. Yup, you guessed it.......it slipped out and smacked my leg. I haven't had a need to access my spare tire yet, and I hope that doesn't change soon. Where do you think I should attach it for lifting purposes? It won't reach the frame rails, and the body would deflect and buckle. I doubt the weak mounting arms on the bumpers would handle it, too. Every 2nd Gen I see has a mis-aligned front bumper with no visual signs of impact.

Honestly, I don`t think I have ever used my jack on this truck to actually jack the truck. Just no good places to jack from as you have discovered. But it does make a handly come-along when you need, and i`ve used it to split logs when camping. HiLift makes some accessories that will work for helping to jack a vehicle. One for the bumper as mentioned, and one for the tire.

How did you mount yours in the bed? Got pics? I mounted mine to my bed liner (see pics) so I wouldn't have to make holes in my bed. Those two brackets that are holding it were purchased at a hardware store and are part of an assembly for a chain link fence. Total cost of the brackets and bolts was less then $5 I recall. On the other side I have an ax and a shovel (shovels not in the bracket in this picture, but it fits just under the ax). I bought that bracket for the ax and shovel on eBay for $20 or so.

The bed of my truck was previously worked over before it came into my possession. I had no problem drilling holes. I also carry dirtbikes in the bed, so I typically unbolt it when heading into the mountains with bikes and gear in the back. Its just one more thing to get stolen, ya know? In my younger days, I had all the off-road goodies bolted to my cargo basket on top of my jeeps, but that was years ago. They never got used either, so maybe it was just for looks. I dunno. Just wanting to simplify now.

I've seen the bumper attachments for the High Lift, but as I said earlier, Dodge doesn't know how to engineer good bumpers.

IIRC there is an attachment that will go into the reciever which will work for the rear of the truck.

Front your pretty much SOL.

Ebay should have the jack stuff on it for not to bad of a price its just getting the keywords to match up, to drop the spare its a hex key if you want I can look at the one I use at the house and get you the size.

For the front, you could always install a front receiver hitch. It has lots of uses, this being just one.
