Clunking noise front end
Trying to troubleshoot a problem noise in my front end.....If I turn the wheel right or left....or Im coming to a stop at a light I hear a clunking noise on in the steering somewhere...anyone know what this could be...I just replaced draglink (which took out play in pitman arm area) and im not seeing any slop in in relating steering parts....doesnt mean it couldnt be upper or lower ball joints....any idea's ?????
Also steering doesnt pull or wander........just the clunk every so often

i think it might be the u-joint in your driveshaft(s), my Ram was doing the same thing, just some of the time like yours. I got the u-joint replaced and it does not clunk anymore.
Mine did the same thing when my u-joints went out. It almost sounds like there are rocks stuck in the tires and you only notice it at slow speeds. I would have them checked out.
I have ruled out the U joints...feels more in the steering wheel than anything, Im leaning toward ball joints but doesnt seem to have the characteristics, its sort of a creeking sound not aa much a clunk, almost similar to a rusty hinge
ok think I figured it out....put on running boards about 2 weeks ago....thought I tightened the cabmount bolts good..but got under truck outta curiosity and was able to tork them down 3 turns each.....got in truck and turned steering wheel...no groaning.....just loose cab mounts...but in my search for the problem I did notice some worn bushings and a couple of questionable ball joints thats in need of replacement...do they sell a kit to take care of the bushings/rubber or do u need to buy it all separate....thanks for the help guys
My truck was doing the same thing, tork down your lower A-arm bushing bolts, you will not here that noise anymore!
