Default Steering column problem

Went to drive my 01 2500 auto today and the gear shift has broken. A check of the linkage at the transmission is okay. Must be something broken in the steering column itself. Is this mechanism servicable? Whats involved in pulling the steering column?

You need the whole column, and it's pretty easy to replace. Get a Haynes or download the Factory Service Manual from the FAQ section here.
