Loud air noise. HELP!
Hi everyone, I'm hoping you guys can help me. I have a 2001 Ram 1500 5.9 4WD and my problem just started yesterday. When I started my truck it made a loud air pressure noise almost sounding like when you release air from an air compressor. This happens at idle but tends to not be so loud when accelerating, but as soon as I let off the accelerator it is loud again. It stopped yesterday afternoon but THEN when I would accelerate I would hear a squeaking noise almost like a belt. Then when I started the truck again this morning it is back to the loud air pressure noise. I'm not noticing any lack in performance, just this very loud annoying noise. Please help. Thank you!
Check the gasket that is in between the TB and the air cleaner housing. But my money is on a clogged cat and a blown plenum. Read this for more info, https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen...um-thread.html
could be your IAC (idle air control module) they like to get carbonized or dirty (the crank case breather is connected to your air box)and the restricted airflow can be heard. take it out and clean the "cone" and the mating surface in the throttle body.
So, an update as of this morning. It seems that for the 3rd morning in a row as soon as I start the truck the loud air/whistle noise starts immediately. For the last 2 days the noise would stop on my way driving home at lunch, but this morning after driving about 1 mile I put my foot into the gas and got it up to between 3k-4k rmps and the sound went away...weird?
