96 Dodge 2500 4x4 Should I replace Ball joints/tie rods etc when replacing axle seal?
Hello,
I've been reading all the threads on changing the axle seals on my 1996 Dodge 2500 4x4 V10 5 speed truck. There's tons of info on this site!
I am going on a long trip with lots of mountain dirt roads etc with no help if my truck breaks down. My question is, should I replace the ball joints, ujoints, tie rod ends, brake pads and whatever else while the front end is torn apart? Les Schwab says that the front end is tight, so don't know if I'm wasting money. Just don't want to have to mess with the front end for a while
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

If it isn't broke, don't fix it, unless your upgradeing it. That's my motto. If there's play or tell-tail signs that something is on it's way out, that's one thing. At least you what's in there you know is good. New parts aren't always better parts
If I was to replace the ball joints and tie rod ends, I would do it with the Moogs brand. I'm fine with "if it ain't broke don't fix it" for sure. Don't really have the $200 for parts that aren't broke.
Thanks.
Thanks.
