Default Broken Hoses

Hey guys!

I just bought a '99 Dodge Ram 1500 5.9L 4X4. I was checking all the fluid levels and I noticed two broken hoses. I was hoping someone could tell me what type of hoses they are and what they do so I can replace them. I attached a couple of pictures of the hoses. Thanks in advance!

Those are for your cab heater hoses. 50/50 chance that they are disconneted due to a leaking heater core.

Thanks! So even if I replace the hoses, it will be a recurring problem if the heater core is leaking?

Idealy you need to test the heater core to see if holds 15psi; no more, if it holds that psi all is well and you could hook it up(test done with hand air pump). The other way to test it would be to hook it up to the motor and see if the windsheild fogs up, if it fogs up the core is leaking. Smell will be another tell tale sign, it will be sweet smelling in the cab if it is leaking.

it is a heater hose. if the heater core is leaking then it needs replacing before you replace the hoses and being that you are in canada i think you need to replace the heater core pretty quick!

Thanks guys! BigBird, I'm actually in Texas. Merc is in Canada. So a heater isn't that big of a deal down here. You know all about that being in Georgia.
