New to the forum, but not new to cars/trucks
My names Dylan, im a Senior in high school, i am an Express Service Tech at a Honda dealership. My around-town driver/hauler is a '97 X-Cab Ram 4x4 Sport, 5.9L v8, D44 in front, 9.25" rearend, np231HD t-case, single thrush glasspack exhaust. But i drive a '85 Toyota Supra 5spd to and from work, Gets muuucch better gas mileage haha.
Anyways, i have a few questions about my truck..
1) Its supposed to have a 46RE transmission, which is a 4spd. My truck goes through the 1-4 forward gears like normal and then drops rpm again like theres a 5th gear. And in this "5th gear" i can gain speed and rpm so im thinking it is a gear with some sort of ratio, just like the rest of them. Heres a video, when it drops to around 1250rpm is the "5th gear" im talkin about.

2) Sometimes when im on the throttle all the way, it shifts waayyy before it should. Like in first it shifts around 4k rpm sometimes. Could this just be low tranny fluid? Because i do think my tranny is leakin around the pan a bit.

Hello,
On your first issue, that just your torque converter locking in, it locks the motor and torque converter together for better fuel economy and there is no TC loss.
On your second issue, have you checked the fluid? Netrual warmed up idling? Could also be your TV cable out of adjustment (if these trucks have one, mine did but it was a 95).
