well im going to bump up an old thread with a different question...... will an '02 1500 transfer case bolt up to my 46re? the engine is a 4.7. i heard that the 46re came behind the 4.7 and 5.9 up until '03? i found an '02 t-case and im just needing confirmation that it will bolt up to my '98 transmission.

TIA

If you were getting that much back, I'd skip buying the plow for your half ton.

Not to be a jerk, but it isn't worth it. You've already had to replace your front coils, and most likely a transmission because of the plow duties on your 1500. I bet the rest of your drivetrain and your front ball joints and hub bearings aren't happy pushing around an 8 foot plow... This thread sure makes it sound like your transfer case hasn't held up well either.

I would go out, and spend a couple grand on an older 3/4 ton that will do the job better, and last a heck of a lot longer than your 1500. I'd get myself an old truck with an NP435, an NP205, a pair of Dana 60 axles, and maybe a leaf-spring front suspension... Add a set of Dana Spicer U-joints to the mix. Craigslist has a couple of these trucks that already have plows every week or so in my area for a couple grand.

I'm biased though. Owning multiple trucks is part of my lifestyle.. It's an addiction. lol

that sounds like a good idea to me. i bought my truck with 209xxx miles and the t case is shot. it still needs replaced. the truck was a plow truck before i bought. it still had the mount and wiring in it. (which is for sale btw) but it tore up the tcase and front end.
