Rear axle brake help plz!!!!!

Question Rear axle brake help plz!!!!!

Hi guys i have a big problem I have a 2001 RAM 4x2 5.9 now i just had the rear brakes done by a (IDIOT) anyways he told me the rear brake backing plates are bent and he told me the 01 drums didnt fit but 99 did so he said i have a 99 rear end anyways i have a 1/2 gap on the top between the drum and plate and on the drivers side its worse i drive it 30 mhp go to stop and shakes like alot .. so How do i find out what rear end is in this truck ? where is the number stamp if any cause there is a 300 price difference from the 99 rear brake plates and 01 please help im stuck without a ride

AND ANYONE KNOWS OF A DODGE PARTS PLACE NEAR PALMDALE CA to get these plates per dealer costs the 1999 plates 498 ea 01 128 ea omg help

That person gave you incorrect information. The 99 uses rear drum brakes, the 01 was the first to use rear disks. You have an 01 and you have to find the correct parts to replace for an 01. Call Oreylleis, Pep Boys, Napa, etc.

Not all 01's have rear disc brakes.

Must depend on manufacture date. The early 01 (ie, built in 00 and early 01) must have the drums and later went to disk. I know the 01's had a lot of different stuff because Dodge was starting to roll out the changes that would wind up in the 3rd gens.

99 uses 11x2 shoes and a 2001 uses 11x2 1/4 shoes. So the drums are not the same.
