Default Dodge V6 better gas mileage?

I have the 3.9L V6, i wrecked it last year June 2, 2010 and i've finally got around to getting it all back together June 2011. I've been averaging around 13-14mpg, does anyone have any suggestions to getting better MPG. I feel like I'm paying the price of driving a V8 but w/o the power, it sucks!! Please any suggestions would be very appreciated

It's kind of that way with the v6 from what I've been told. Never an economical truck.

Is it a manual or automatic transmission? My buddy had a v6 2nd gen with a 5spd and he only got about 15 mpg. He bought the truck thinking that it was going to save him some cash at the pumps. He was a little upset when he found out that i was averaging about 13-14 mpg in my ram with a 5.2l v8. The reason why the v6 doenst get better gas mileage is because the truck is essentially the same size and weight, with less power, therefore the motor has work harder to move the weight.

As for MPG, maintenance is key. Before you do anything give the truck a solid tune up. (Spark plugs, wires, distributor, oil and filter, fuel filter, air filter etc.) See if that helps at all. And most of all if you want to get better mpg, drive like an old man/woman. Thats the easy gas saver when it comes to a truck!

If you want a truck for mileage, get a Toyota or Nissan 4-banger.
