Default 4x4 problem!!!!!!!

Okay, today i wanted to test my 4x4 out and see if it is properly working. shifts from 2hi to 4hi no problem, then shifting out of 4hi back to 2hi takes longer because from what i hear it has to disengage as you drive? well the next thing is when i try the 4low out, going from that back to N and then to 4hi i hear this grind when shifting it?

any ideas?

there's a trick to shifting in and out of 4LO. note that you have to pass through a neutral position, and understand there are no synchronizers to allow you to pause in neutral.

so here's what you do - shift transmission to neutral. be either stopped (best) or rolling a 1 mph. grab the t-case handle, grit your teeth, and slam the sob all the way through neutral to 4Lo or 2Hi - and do it just as hard and fast as you can.

if it binds and grinds, then you're stuck, so turn the engine off, finish the shift, and restart it.

so if im trying to get out of 4low and it starts to grind, just turn the truck off and then go to 2hi and start the truck?
