if the valve seals where bad you would know it when you fire it up first thing in the morning or after it has sat for a couple of hours. oil would have a chance to drip into the cylinder and would cause the truck to smoke way more than normal when you fire it up and eventually disappear.

3gts in 6 miles? Rings and valve seals I'd say, or you forgot to use a gasket for the plenum.
