Default question about o/d light...

I know what it means when o/d disengages and won't reengage, but I don't know what would be causing it....specifically...

I did the check delete this weekend, and installed a remote filter. This morning I drove the truck for it's first extended drive with the new rig.. I hit stop and go traffic for about an hour.. truck didn't get near hot (only about 3/8 on the gauge), but when I was about to park it the o/d off light lit, and wouldn't go off..

I checked the fluid- it's good..

I checked the lines for leakage, they're good..

So my question is this: has anyone had any trouble with a remote filter set-up? It seems to me that my problem may be with the filter being too restrictive.. Does this sound reasonable?

How did you delete the check valve? And are you SURE you have the hoses and such routed correctly?(for the remote)

drilled it out.. 100% positive all parts of it are gone and no obstructions remain in line.. Positive the remote is set up correctly as well.. I intercepted the return line and plumbed the filter there.. There is a slight chance I have a bad connection that allowed some pressure by, but that is really slight..

I'm thinking the filter is too much of an obstruction, and maybe a high flow is in order..

Sure does sound like a flow problem. You did remove the line completely when drilling the CV out right?

I did... I could hold it up and see clearly from one end to the other.. I used compressed air and blew out all little parts and pieces until I couldn't see anything in the line at all.. the only thing it can be if not the filter obstructing, is the connectors slipped and some I lost pressure..

I guess I'm answering my own question, huh?

What do you mean you lost pressure?

oh I don't know that I did for sure.. I'm doing a lot of supposing.. but I've never had the hint of this in the past.. the only thing that has changed is the cv delete, and introduction of the filter..

the o/d off tells me things were getting warm.. the only thing I can blame for warm conditions is the lack of flow.. by saying 'loss of pressure', I was taking a shortcut in saying "one of my fittings may not be secure, or I have a ruptured line, or something else is preventing the flow- and that may be due to a rupture or bad fitting which is intercepting the pressure"..

does this make any sense?

First thing I would do is remove the remote filter setup.

Go the simple route first instead of ripping everything apart. If you have some left over hose (or buy some if you dont), create a bypass for your filter and see if that helps. Create a bypass for the check valve and see if that helps. If you run bypass hoses on both and you still have an OD problem, then it's just coincidence that it happened when you did the alterations and you have a tranny sensor problem.
