can you swap rear end out 00' Dakota into 98 1500?

Default can you swap rear end out 00' Dakota into 98 1500?
I'm looking at fixing my worn out rear end with one out of a 2000 Durango. Mine is 4x4 so is the Durango. I'm not sure what is required to make it happen, will it bolt up? Are they the same?

Nearly anything can be done.....just a matter of time and expense.

First thing I would check is the width of each and how springs and shocks mount up. Also chec to see if they have the same gear ratio.

The question is why would you? The Durango/Dakota axle will be weaker than the Rams. Not to mention the bolt pattern is different also.

Is the Durango axle more narrow then the Rams? Either way it would probably be best to just find one out of a ram.. Less headache there.
