You can cut it out and weld in a piece of connecting pipe, gut it or replace it.

For options #1 & #2, you can use the "non-fouler" trick to get rid of the CEL...

I heard that not having a cat can screw up your computer... is that just the CEL or is it something else??

the easiest and cheapest way would be to gut it and to use the non-fouler trick. just take a pry bar or chisel and a hammer. put the pry bar into the inlet of the cat and start beating on it untill theres nothing left inside.

Follow the link that zman gave you. That will take care of any problem, that's why he provided it. The only OTHER issue you may have is if exhasut emmision testing is required where you live.

Haha, I live in the middle of Alabama... Its illegal to do this, but no one ever checks for cats except maybe State Trooper rookies near larger towns...

make sure you take out your front o2 sensor before you go knockin the honeycomb out of it, you dont wanna bend the sensor when u bust through it.

i have done this to my truck and i never got a CEL from it.

If you gut it then that rookie state trooper would never know.

haha true, but anyways, someone mentioned that a computer will try to adjust the gas/oxygen levels in the pipe which makes the engine drink more gas... is any of this right?
