Unhappy Trans slippin & chuggin...help please

Hi, I have a 2001 Dodge quad cab w/the larger engine in it. Trans rebuilt at 100k and it is now at 172k. Trans is slipping at takeoff and chugging as I am driving down the road. Seems to slip when engine is cold, only at takeoff. All other gears shifting as normal but light chugging before and after shifts. Tune up on engine was recent and trans fluid was 1/2 quart low. Fluid added and seems to help slipping so far but still chuggin. Is my tranny getting ready to dump? Should I park it till I can afford the shop work or is it safe to keep driving it? Thanks so much.
