Default Finacky AC- Works if I start car in AC but turns warm, won't work if I dont

My AC is finacky. If I start the car and the AC is "ON", it works beautifully well for about 45 minutes and then it goes warm. If I start the car w/o AC but THEN turn on AC it doesnt work at all. If I start the car on AC and then I turn AC off and then try to turn it back on it doesnt work.

pressure seems fairly decent in the AC lines so its not a leak issue. I dont really understand AC well enough to diagnose it. Any takers?

Sounds alot like what mines doing and I narrowed it down to the clutch. Because once the compressor heats up and the clutch disengages it just won't re-engage until the entire motor cools down and the compressor is cool again. It's like $80 for the clutch off ebay.

some of your vacuum lines are probably cracked. The vac lines that switch your vents and open/close the flow of air over your heater core.

It is one of those expensive jobs that require inexpensive parts. The problem is you need to get inside your dash.

Check to make sure your ccompressor is cycling though the clutch should spin for a few then stop for a few and start again
