Default Transfer Case

ok i got a 97 4x4 5spd and i need a new transfer case. mine im pretty sure it royally f***ed up. it grinds when i engage 4 wheel and start letting out the clutch and had slack in the bearings im sure and just found out that it bone dry on fluid. due to and unnoticed leak. (i park in grass/sandy driveway) so i never noticed puddles of fluid. i had planned on replacing it before finding this out but anyways..

where do you guys recommend getting a new transfer case??? or should i take mine in and see about getting it rebuilt??

only reason it could be junk is if the case is cracked or has a large hole. If it has neither than a rebuild will be your cheapest route to go

even if its cracked its still repairable if you or someone you know is pretty good at TIG welding, i had a pretty sizable crack once upon a time and a buddy of mine welded it up and i haven had any problems for over a year now

prices for reman's look pretty decent here if you don't want to get into the internals.
