98 ram bucking after 1\2 mile
my 1998 ram 2500 4x4 5.9L. every morning when i leave my house anout 1/2 a mile away the truck starts bucking. acting as if your not giving it any gas. it lasts for like 30 seconds then goes away till next morning. ive tried wires cap rotor coolant temp sensor. anybody had same or similar problem. thinking IAC or TPS
I've been having a similar problem with my 98 1500 4x4 5.9L for going on the past year and a half. So far, I've replaced both O2 sensors, TPS, and MAP. The O2 sensor replacement is the only one that seemed to have any effect, but it didn't last.
I've also had a problem with the #5 cylinder fouling out a Bosch Platinum +4 plug. Turns out, according to my mechanic, that with 130K miles, I should probably be running a standard spark plug because the +4 are easily fouled out. Also, the valve seals on that bank were wearing out and #5 was the worst. All replaced now.
I digress. Back to the original problem. I've had the truck in the shop several times with no luck locating the problem. Finally, the gremlin showed himself when the mechanic was test driving it after the valve seal replacement. He is currently trying to solve the problem since whatever it is doesn't set a code in the computer.
When we find out what is causing it, I'll post the solution here.
