Default is this normal?

i just got my 4x4 all re done and i wanted to test it out.

when i engage it the 4wd light comes on and i hear it engage but then when i shift the 4x4 back to N , the light goes off but it doesnt engage for awhile?

is this normal?

Why are you shifting to neutral? When shifting to or from 4wd, you should push or pull in one quick motion past neutral.

i meant to say , when shifting back to 2hi, not neutral.

And wow, this is so sad, one of my good friends was killed in a car accident last year and i cant imagine what this family has suffered. my thoughts and prayers go out to the family.

The cad is run by vacuum so it takes a few seconds for it to engage or disengage

ESP if you have a vacuum leak, I had a hole in my vacuum lines, like 2 or 3 inches long, and it would take like 30 secs or so to engage, idk how it even worked with that big of a hole lol

I have also read that it will do it only if there is no strain on the drivetrain. If it has some stress on it (like a turn in 4x4), it won't force anything, it'll wait.

well it eventually shifted out, i don;t think i can a vacuum leak but maybe i could? i don;t have any CEL on, my dad told me that the same thing used to happen in his 94 z71.
